Things to avoid when trying to lose weight while breastfeeding are diets that promise a quick fix or fast weight loss.If you are on a bad diet plan you will not have enough energy and may become anemic.Your body will take the nutrients to help produce the milk from your tissues causing you to have a low bone density and you will lose muscle.Make sure you take enough calories ,if you lose your weight too rapidly it can effect the nutrition of your baby’s milk and make it unhealthy, also do not take any diet pills.

Here I will list some tips to help you get started.Instead of consuming 2-3 big meals a day have 3 smaller meals and snacks between meals.By doing this your body will wont store any fat.Try to limit the amount of fats that you eat to 20-25% of the amount of calories that you eat.Increase the amount of protein that you eat as this will build muscle to help burn more fat.

Make sure you drink plenty of water, but don’t over do it as too much fluids can cause you not to produce enough milk.Do not eat any sweets or foods that contain a high amount of sugar,this is not healthy for you or your baby.

Some foods to avoid are spicy foods,caffeine and chocolate as your baby might react badly to these foods.Have a diet that has plenty of green vegetables such as broccoli and spinach and foods that contain wholegrain that provide calcium and essential vitamins.

Reduce the amount of meat that you eat as they may contain harmful chemicals and pesticides, which could leave harmful toxins in your breast milk.Also avoid tuna,fish and swordfish as they contain high amounts of mercury.

It is possible to lose weight safely,follow the tips above and you can lose the weight without effecting your milk supply.
